Examining the Substance of Studio MX
November 13, 2007
To all web designers out there, this article is for you! I guess you already heard about Studio MX (I think so!) ? the ideal bundle for professional web designers, bringing together Dreamweaver MX for page design, Flash MX for animation and interactivity, and Fireworks MX for editing and optimizing graphics. With all these components, it certainly provides professional functionality for every aspect of web development.
I must say that the integration between the individual products is generally very good. It begins with the interface which uses common elements such as dockable, collapsible panels and a dynamic property inspector, so that you can switch comfortably between products. On a technical level, the key feature is roundtrip support. You can embed Fireworks graphics and Flash movies in Dreamweaver pages without losing any information, letting you later reopen an element in its original application with all its features intact. Also, in effect, the combination of Dreamweaver and ColdFusion provides an easy path into dynamic, Java-based web development.

Spyware, What is it?
November 11, 2007
Spyware, what it is and what it does. Basically, spyware is a program put on your computer usually after you have downloaded some kind of program or went to a certain site. Once this program is on your computer, depending on what kind was put on, has the potential to monitor what you’re doing without you knowing it.
Besides having the ability to track your Internet surfing, it can also change the settings of your computer, and display unwanted advertising. Kinds of Spyware include, Adware, Malware, parasiteware, and other kinds of software.
A lot of these Spyware applications are bundled with other applications such as shareware and freeware, and as I said, you usually don’t know you have it. Some of these Internet pests have the ability to gather your e-mail address, passwords, and even private credit card numbers.
Many of these programs send the information it gathers information to third parties who in turn send you a lot of advertisements, hence the word Adware. This is also why you can get a tremendous amount of pop-ups.
10 Things You Could be Using Photoshop For, But Probably Arent
November 11, 2007
Most people don’t use Photoshop to its fullest capabilities. Here are just ten uses to which you could put this highly versatile software.
1. Restoring Old Photographs. Have a look through that old family photo album - the really old one from up in Grandma’s attic. Inside there are probably a few photos from way back when that haven’t stood the test of time so well. They’ve got cracks and tears that really spoil their appearance. Scan them into Photoshop, and then set to work with the Clone Stamp, Healing Brush, and Patch tools. The Healing Brush in particular is a great tool for this purpose as it samples data from one part of the picture and blends it in with what’s already there.
2. Correcting Mistakes. We’ve all done it: Had an attack of “finger over the lens syndrome,” or got too close with the flash, so our subjects suffer from “red eye” and look like extras from a horror movie. Use the crop tool to salvage something usable from your obscured photo, and the enlarge wizard to blow it up to a reasonable size. For “red eye” and “pet eye,” use the eyedropper tool to sample color from around the iris, and a brush to paint away the red.

CRM 101: Customer Relationship Management for Beginners
November 8, 2007
Customer Relationship Management, abbreviated "CRM," is the term for a business strategy that is designed to improve customer service. CRM is also designed to increase customer satisfaction and gain new customers, thus increasing a business’ revenue. CRM is a term that can be applied to software and an entire business strategy.
How Does CRM Work?
Essentially, CRM works by gathering information about customers and analyzing the information collected. An example of this would be supermarket discount cards (I.E. Kroger Plus Cards, ACME cards, Giant Eagle cards, etc…). When a consumer scans his or her card, and then his or her items, the items that customer bought are entered into a database. This gives businesses an accurate idea of which customers buy what. Businesses then analyze this information. After analyzing the data collected, businesses can adjust their marketing campaigns and increase sales. Customer Relationship Management brings the company closer to the customer. CRM closes a "relationship gap" that can be formed between the business and its customers.
CRM is also useful for customer service. Businesses can use automated CRM applications to analyze customer complaints, or compliments, and change the business processes accordingly. Interestingly enough, CRM products also run many automated call-centers for businesses (I.E. customer service systems). CRM applications and practices are used to make businesses more efficient and improve customer satisfaction.
DB Integration - Software for Combine MS Access Databases
November 7, 2007
Our company, Novaprof Inc., developed unique software - DB Integration. This software makes it possible to integrate two databases of *.mdb format. An integration, in this case, is combining the objects of two databases. Software features.
This software makes it possible to combine two different databases. Final database can be made on the basis of one of the initial database, i.e. the objects of another initial databases are imported to one of the initial database. Another variant of combining two initial databases into the third final database.
In the next versions.
Next versions will have new features: first of all, apart from the possibility to combine data, it will be possible to combine schemas on the basis of the coincident subschemas of two databases. Also it will be possible to integrate databases of the .mdb format and of the format of the other databases of DBM.
For instance, you can combine MS SQL and Oracle database, and the final database will be MS Access. In the next version it will be possible to bring out similarities of two databases in the automatic mode, not to define the semantically similar databases and schema. Also you may suggest which features you do want the next versions of this software to have. All the suggestions will be taken into consideration and realized as it will be possible.

Accounts Payable: A Powerful Document Management and Workflow Solution
November 6, 2007
Accounts payable is just one area of office management where problems arise because of the sheer complexity of transactions, and the vast amount of paperwork that is generated.
A disproportionate amount of time and administrative resources is consumed just getting invoices approved for payment. The problem becomes compounded when invoices are lost when being circulated for clearance and even more time is then lost in the retrieval process.
Typically these documents include purchase invoices from suppliers, sales invoices to customers and purchase orders generated by customers.
Even if missing documentation is successfully recovered from the system, the delay will have caused major inconvenience. If it is not recovered, the effects on business are routinely disruptive, and in extreme cases, disastrous.
TokOpen is a powerful document management and workflow software solution that goes far beyond conventional document capture and storage. Uniquely flexible, the package allows systems to be configured to meet customers’ specific needs.
How TokOpen works
Automated data entry allows invoices to be scanned, indexed and stored in the system, avoiding time-consuming manual entry. Automated reading can take two forms: either header reading (reference number, client name and amount); or full line item reading. Alternatively, invoice information can still be entered manually if required.
